In a tweet sent out yesterday, HTC wrote that the HTC U11, the HTC U Ultra and the HTC 10 would all get the update to Android Oreo worldwide.

These devices are pretty obvious choices as far as HTC's updates are concerned — they're phones that would have been expected to receive Oreo, so HTC hasn't really put its neck on the line here.

Still, the confirmation is welcome, especially with regards to the HTC 10. This launched with Marshmallow in 2016, and though it should be obvious that it will receive two major upgrades, that doesn't always happen. The OnePlus 2 won't receive a second major Android update, while the LG G4, LG's 2015 flagship, is still waiting on Nougat in the US, and it too may never arrive.

For this reason, we're also pleased that HTC states that the updates will roll out worldwide, not just in certain regions.

HTC has been one of the fastest manufacturers to roll out Android Nougat updates so far and pushed it out to its HTC 10 in just over 90 days; there appears to be no reason why it can't deliver Oreo in a timely manner also, but it hasn't yet provided a timeline.
