The Pixel 2 rumors continue to hit the internet, and today there's a new low-res image image of the upcoming smaller version of Google's next Pixel. The image shows a slate gray glass window on the top of the device's back, along with a dark silver color on the back.
The image, which comes from 9to5Google, is heavily blurred to keep the identity of the site's source a secret. It's unknown if this color "slate gray" color will be shipped when the Pixel 2 is first launched, though the leak does claim that this color version of the Pixel 2 is being tested internally. The new blurry image leak also shows two holes below the rear camera's flash. They are likely the "receive" and "send" sensors for the Pixel 2's laser autofocus feature. The new report also is in line with previous rumors about the Pixel 2, including that it will come in 64 GB and 128 GB storage variants, along with having a 4.97-inch 1920 x 1080 display. Sadly, this new report also repeats rumors that the Pixel 2 will not have a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Also, 9to5Google claims that the Pixel 2 will have better water and dust resistance compared to the first Pixel phone, but it's unclear if it will get a IP68 rating. One other note is that the Pixel 2 will reportedly come with an Always-On Display option, which has been rumored in the past. Finally, the report claims that the Pixel 2 will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo, and it will be the first device to launch with the previously-announced Google Lens app.
Reportedly, Google will launch a new suite of hardware products, including the Pixel 2 and the larger Pixel 2 XL on October 5. However, a new rumor claims that those phones will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor inside, instead of a slightly improved Snapdragon 836, which is now no longer believed to be in development.
