HDR-compatible content should pop out more now, with brighter colors and higher contrast.
The Galaxy S8 duo actually does not support HDR10 nor Dolby Vision, the two HDR standards that Netflix uses.
Curiously enough, however, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are still nowhere to be found on that page. That's because even though Samsung was the first to bring HDR10 to a mobile device (with the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7), the Galaxy S8 duo actually does not support HDR10 nor Dolby Vision, the two HDR standards that Netflix uses. There have been some online users who claim that their Galaxy S8 devices show the HDR icon on Netflix, but the company says it's a bug.
It's unclear whether the video streaming giant will add Mobile HDR Premium, which is the HDR standard that's available on the Galaxy S8, but until then, the Galaxy Note 8 will remain the only Samsung-made device on that list. That said, however, with more manufacturers adding HDR10 compatibility to their flagships, the list is bound to grow even more in the coming months.
