As forgettable as Nokia's Windows Phone days were, they introduced several smartphones whose cameras were more capable than anything else on the market. That was partially thanks to the Nokia Pro Camera mode, which introduced pro-level manual controls and was  thought dead after Nokia's unceremonious exit from the Windows Phone market.

That will soon change, however, as HMD Global announced the return of the Nokia Pro Camera mode for its top-tier Android smartphones.

HMD Global chief product officer Juho Sarvikas announced the revival during MWC 2018 and said every Nokia phone with Zeiss optics would get the feature. These devices include the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, though Sarvikas confirmed on Twitter that the Nokia 8 would also be supported.

The current Nokia Pro Camera mode appears similar to its previous incarnation. You still have a radial menu that lets you manually adjust the white balance, focus, ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation.
