In the complaint, a group of Pixel owners allege that their phones had microphone problems from the beginning. They also allege that Google knowingly sold defective Pixel and Pixel XL units, with some warranty replacements also having problems.

According to Fast Company, the plaintiffs did not replace their phones within their respective warranty periods.

Behind the lawsuit is Girard Gibbs LLP, the same law firm that might file a lawsuit against Google over Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL issues. Girard Gibbs was also behind a lawsuit against LG over bootloop issues that affected several of the company's flagship smartphones.

Google acknowledged the microphone issues in March 2017 and said the Pixel and Pixel XL might have a failure-causing

physical default in one of three microphones. The search giant also said the issues might be due to a hairline crack in the solder of the microphone component going into the Pixel's mainframe.

The problem affected enough people for Google to take it seriously, though the only course of action was to contact the company for a replacement.
