OnePlus 6 Evan Blass

  • VentureBeat writer Evan Blass put out an image of what is purported to be the OnePlus 6's back.
  • Based on the image, the OnePlus 6 might feature an oval fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, and interesting material choice.
  • The OnePlus 6 could be the company's first phone to launch above $500.

As much as we know about the rumored OnePlus 6, we only have two images of the thing. Thanks to VentureBeat writer and known leaker Evan Blass, we finally got another purported look at the upcoming Galaxy S9 Plus.

I just couldn't help myself with that comparison. If it were not for the LED flash between the oval-shaped fingerprint sensor and the vertically-arranged dual cameras, the OnePlus 6's back would almost be a dead ringer for the Galaxy S9 Plus'. From this angle, at least.

Then again, some will argue that is a better arrangement. Because the fingerprint sensor and cameras have more separation than on the Galaxy S9 Plus, you are less prone to smudging the cameras. As good as the Galaxy S9 Plus's fingerprint sensor is, it sits right below the telephoto

lens.

Elsewhere, the purported OnePlus 6 appears to have a weird texture on the back. We cannot tell if that is wood or some sort of soft material, but the "Designed by OnePlus" lettering on the bottom is organized exactly like the lettering found in another leaked image from February.

We wonder if the OnePlus 6 will have removable back plates. Different material choices would be a nice change of pace for a company that has put out aluminum and glass slabs for the last two years.

Finally, the image reveals a bottom speaker, USB Type-C port, and the unicorn that is the headphone jack. I guess OnePlus has not yet built up enough courage to remove it.

Editor's Pick

As a quick recap, the OnePlus 6 will reportedly feature the Snapdragon 845 and the universally-loved display notch around front. Interestingly, there have been fewer OnePlus 6 rumors this year than in prior years, so take that however you want.

Since almost every iteration of OnePlus' devices have slightly increased in price, the OnePlus 6 could be the company's first phone to launch above $500. We will find out for sure come summertime, when OnePlus is slated to unveil its flagship.
