Original article (7/17/17): Samsung announced today that US users will be able to add and access their PayPal accounts through Samsung Pay, online or offline.

It's already been over two years since Samsung announced its mobile payment system, Samsung Pay. Unlike Android Pay or Apple Pay, Samsung's version lets you make purchases through the more traditional MST technology, meaning you can use your phone to pay virtually anywhere.

Initially, it was only available in Korea, but it has since expanded around the globe to countries like the US, Canada, UK, India, Thailand, and Sweden, with more to come in the coming months.

Users can access their PayPal wallet right inside Samsung's app and spend the balance in places where they couldn't before.

Well, it's not done bringing improvements to its mobile payment app yet, it seems: Samsung and PayPal have announced a strategic partnership today, adding PayPal as a payment option within Samsung Pay wherever Samsung Pay is accepted, which is virtually everywhere. In other words, users can access their PayPal wallet right inside Samsung's app and spend the balance in places where they couldn't before. Samsung adds that through "Braintree, a PayPal service, merchants will be able to accept Samsung Pay as a method of payment in-app and online."

Unfortunately, as is usually the case with new features, access to PayPal is only available in the US for now although the company says other countries will follow suit in the future.
