- Apparently, there are a number of fake Fortnite beta APKs going around. A bunch of bogus websites are in on the scam. Pundits believe the scam aims for the younger audience that may not know any better when browsing online. There are a variety of ads that make the initiative look legitimate, but they're really not. These apps don't let you play Fortnite at all. It's just a name on an app. We highly recommend you not download them.
- Square Enix Montreal canceled their Go series games this week. The current games, Lara Croft Go, Hitman Go, and Deus Ex Go remain on Google Play for right now. However, no new games are coming to the series. Executives blame a lackluster premium game market. Let's face facts, they're right. People simply don't spend money on premium games on mobile. This is a sad day, though, as the Go games were among the best in their genre.
- Facebook just can't stop messing up right now. A new report shows Facebook still showing data to third parties. This contradicts the answers Mark Zuckerberg gave Congress a while back. The third parties include some big names in tech, including Microsoft, Applke, BlackBerry, Samsung, and many others. Facebook already closed off access to some tech companies like Huawei, though. Frankly, this is a giant mess. We'll keep you updated when we learn more.
- BlueStacks and MSI partnered up for a new app player on PC. The new app player is basically just a customized version of BlueStacks. However, it has a few extra optimizations and MSI's name. The hope is to get more people playing mobile games on PC. This does introduce some unlikely and unfortunate side effects, though. For instance, PUBG Mobile is playable with a mouse and keyboard and that kind of wrecks the spirit of the mobile version of the game. However, PUBG Mobile developers stated that updates are coming that would prevent the two types of players from playing together.
- Microsoft purchased GitHub this week. The deal cost Microsoft around $7.5 billion. The GitHub community was a little worried about the deal. However, Microsoft announced that GitHub would operate on its own as it always has. Meanwhile, in the background, Microsoft wants to use GitHub to improve their developer offerings. This could actually be pretty decent news. Most only highlight properties that Microsoft didn't do well with. However, Microsoft has been on a tear lately with properties like Minecraft so maybe GitHub isn't in too much trouble.
Minesweeper Genius is a mobile take on the classic computer game. It plays much like the original. There are numbered tiles. The numbers tell you how many bombs are connected to that tile. Your goal is to jump around the board avoiding the bombs at all cost. Levels are randomly generated and there are several difficulties to choose from. The game also has Google Play Games achievements and cloud saving. It's not bad for its $1.99 price tag. The game also includes no additional in-app purchases or ads.
Intra is a new security app. It lets you test new DNS-over-HTTPS services. For the uninitiated, those services encrypt your domain name lookups. This app tells you if it's enabled or disabled. It works with popular DNS provides like Google and Cloudflare with more coming later. It's an alpha release right now. You can expect bugs here and there. However, it's otherwise a quick and easy way to see if DNS-over-HTTPS is working. The app is also completely free with no ads or in-app purchases for right now.

Super Monkey Ball: Sakura Edition is the latest SEGA Forever game. The game features basically all of the same features as its old console counterpart along with some new stuff. Players have an option of four playable characters. There are 125 stages, a few extra mini-games, local multiplayer support, and more. It's free with advertising like most SEGA Forever games. There is an optional $1.99 in-app purchase for ad removal. This is a good little arcade game.
Navigation Gestures is a new app from XDA. It lets you navigate around the UI without the navigation bar. It replaces the nav bar with a small bar across the bottom. You swipe and tap the bar in various ways to control the UI. It includes support for the usual home, back, and recent apps stuff. You can also set it to swipe for things like the power menu and other stuff. Most of the basic stuff is free with some advanced stuff in the pro version. It also doesn't require root.
AXE.IO is a new battle royale game. You and other players join an arena and duke it out for supremacy. It's the same genre as games like PUBG Mobile. However, this one uses medieval weapons instead of guns. The game features 16 playable characters, simple mechanics, a leaderboard, and a massive dragon boss fight. Common complaints include framerate issues, but that's it really. Most people seem to really enjoy this game.
