Update (06/18): A post on Oppo's Weibo account (via GSMArena) hints very strongly that the Find X may have a 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, with almost no bezel at all. It beats the just announced Vivo Nex, which has a 91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio.
In addition, a brief trailer that was shown on TV in China this weekend may indicate that the Oppo Find X has front and rear cameras that rise up from the top of the phone, so that they stay completely hidden when not in use.
Original article (06/12): The Oppo Find X makes us excited, if only based on how good Oppo's last flagships were back in 2014. Back then, we got the Find 7 with its QHD screen, super-fast charging, and 50MP images from a 13MP sensor. We also got the N-series which came with a camera on a swivel and rear touch panel gestures.
We've gathered the latest rumors and nuggets of information on the Find X here all in one place.
Oppo Find X specs
The Snapdragon 845 processor by Qualcomm
We can't expect anything but the Snapdragon 845 in the new flagship, as Oppo has traditionally used Qualcomm silicon in its flagships. It used MediaTek chips for devices like the R15, but the Taiwanese silicon giant doesn't have a bona fide flagship chip this year.
In the memory department, 6GB to 8GB of RAM has become a top-tier option for the likes of OnePlus and Xiaomi. Don't be surprised to see this much RAM in the new Oppo phone too.
Lending credence to the processor and RAM figures is a report from Playfuldroid. The outlet spotted apparent Oppo Find X specs on the TENAA telecoms authority website (the pages have since been pulled). Among the more notable details are a 2.8GHz octa-core processor — the same clock speed and core count as the SD845 — and 8GB of RAM. The report also claims the phone will have a 6.4-inch 2,340 x 1,080 AMOLED screen and a 3,645mAh battery.
More recently, we saw a leaked image on Weibo claiming the phone would have a Snapdragon 845, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Could we be looking at a base model and a variant with double the space?
To further corroborate these specs, Twitter user @IshanAgarwal24 recently tweeted a leaked spec sheet for the Oppo Find X. The information suggests the phone will house Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB of RAM, a 16MP/20MP dual camera setup, and a 25MP selfie shooter.
Several other details were hinted at, such as a 6.4-inch 2,340 x 1,080 display, 128GB of storage, f/2.0 apertures for all three cameras, dual-SIM connectivity, NFC support, and a 3,730mAh battery. The Find X is said to be 9.6mm thick.

If this is the real deal, it raises a few questions about the Find X, starting with the display. The 2,340 x 1,080 resolution isn't a standard resolution (even for 18:9 displays), which means we could potentially see a display notch.
Then there's the f/2.0 aperture for all the cameras, suggesting Oppo isn't using a telephoto shooter on the back (telephoto cameras usually have smaller apertures). Finally, the 128GB storage claim probably points to a few storage options, as previous leaks suggest either 128GB or 256GB of space.
Oppo Find X: More like fastest charging
Oppo previously showed off Super VOOC Flash Charge technology back in 2016, claiming a full charge in 15 minutes, albeit for a 2,500mAh battery. So it's reasonable to assume this tech has finally matured enough to land in the flagship.
We can't expect a 15 minute charge with a more than 3,600mAh battery, but even half an hour or 45 minutes would be a welcome improvement. In fact, Qualcomm's own

The Playfuldroid report also picked up apparent camera details, in the form of a 16MP and 20MP rear camera combo and a 25MP front-facing shooter.
At MWC last year, the company showed off unique 5x zoom capabilities, enabled by an elaborate prism-based setup. There's no word if this tech is in the Oppo Find X, but one teaser definitely suggests a prism is coming. In any case, here's hoping for something more innovative than a standard 2x telephoto camera.
As for the 25MP selfie shooter, several brands have adopted pixel binning on the front camera (for better low-light shots), necessitating a higher resolution sensor. Here's to Oppo using the high-res front shooter for more than just bragging rights.
The Chinese brand used MWC 2016 to show off a new sensor-based optical image stabilization solution (as opposed to conventional lens-based systems). This solution promises lower power consumption and faster, more precise stabilization. Who knows, the company may even have improved on the solution since then. Again, we don't know for sure if this will come to the Oppo Find X.
Oppo Find X design
This is the big question. We've seen a claimed snap of the back of the phone via Weibo, showing off a rather starry cover and no rear fingerprint scanner, which means it could have a traditional front-mounted scanner or an under-display scanner.
We haven't seen the front of the device, but here's hoping it doesn't have a notch. Then again, we wouldn't mind the notch if it were used for facial recognition sensors (instead of just accommodating an earpiece and camera). Samsung is also supplying Oppo with curved OLED screens, according to Korean publication The Bell. The article notes Oppo is set to release a phone with a curved OLED screen as early as next month, but didn't say if this is indeed the Find X.

That Playfuldroid article also claims Android 8.1 Oreo is the operating system on board, making for the latest publicly available release. Oppo traditionally adds its ColorOS skin atop Android, delivering additional features to the platform.
More recently, ColorOS gained Apple- and webOS-inspired gestures, a Xiaomi-style quick ball menu, screen recording, and smart photo categorization and search.

Oppo's choice of Paris as the city to launch the Find X in makes it clear this is a global release. We're still expecting China to be part of the first wave of countries, and India has to be in the running too. The Chinese brand is also a sponsor of the FC Barcelona football team and, when combined with news about a Spanish foray, the Oppo Find X could be in for a European launch.
We don't know when the Oppo Find X will be released, but The Bell's report notes Oppo is releasing a curved OLED device in July or August. Again, we don't know if this is the Find X, but a June reveal and July or August release sounds plausible.
As for a price, the company doesn't take the affordable route with its upper tier phones, never mind its flagships. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more expensive than the Xiaomi Mi 8 and OnePlus 6. For the record, the Find 7 had a $599 launch price and the Oppo N3 had a $649 price. That was over three years ago, and everyone in the industry has adopted higher prices for their flagships. Heck, even Xiaomi's Mi 8 has a slightly higher starting price of 2,699 yuan (~$421), versus the Mi 6's 2,499 yuan (~$390) entry-level price tag.
