The XDA team also gave confirmation that the game was playable on a Google Pixel 2 XL and an Essential Phone, but not playable on a OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6 is not on the leaked list of Fortnite-compatible devices — but then again, neither is the Essential Phone.

Here is the error message the XDA team saw when attempting to start gameplay on a OnePlus 6:

To be clear, all the devices that were able to play Fortnite for Android were rooted, which enabled the users to bypass various checks that the software makes. XDA thinks that the reason the OnePlus 6 was rejected was due to various tweaks the user previously made on the device, and not because of the device's make and model.

In other words, you will need root to be one of the first to play Fortnite for Android — and even then your mileage may vary.
