Oppo
- The Oppo F9 has been announced, featuring the company's now distinctive waterdrop notch.
- The new smartphone also offers a Helio P60 chipset, up to 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.
- The manufacturer is also planning to reveal the Oppo F9 Pro next week.
The Oppo F9 has been announced by the Chinese brand, and it looks like the company's "waterdrop" notch is here to stay. The unique notch, which bears more of a resemblance to the Essential Phone than the iPhone X, first appeared on the recently launched Oppo R17.
Aside from the distinctive cutout, the Oppo F9 offers some upper mid-range specs. That means a Mediatek Helio P60 chipset, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage (there's no mention of microSD support), and a 6.3-inch full HD+ LCD screen (19.5:9 screen ratio).
The Oppo F9 also offers a 3,500mAh battery, which isn't really spectacular for a phone with such a large screen. The firm is touting its VOOC Flash Charge tech as well, claiming a five-minute charge will give you two hours of talk-time.

Other noteworthy specs include a dual rear
camera pairing (16MP f/1.8 and 2MP f/2.4), a massive 25MP f/2.0 selfie camera, a headphone jack, a rear fingerprint scanner, and what seems to be microUSB rather than USB Type-C connectivity. The phone doesn't have NFC support either, so mobile payment fans should probably stick to
camera-based solutions.

Still, the phone does come in three gradient colors, including a rather fetching shade of purple (dubbed Starry Purple). Otherwise, you can also get the phone in Sunrise Red or Twilight Blue.
The Oppo F9 is available to purchase in Vietnam and the Philippines, with a recommended price of 7,690,000 dong (~$332) in the former market.
The phone's launch also comes ahead of the Oppo F9 Pro reveal, scheduled for August 21. It's unclear how the Pro model will differ from the standard Oppo F9, but we're expecting more storage at the very least.
