An apparently leaked video of the Nubia Z18S made us sit up and take notice last week. The video shows a phone with a massive color display on its back, rather than an e-ink screen or tiny display.

It looks like the phone is indeed the real deal, as a Nubia device (model number NX616J) has landed on China's TENAA regulatory body. The filing doesn't have any photos of the device, but it lists two screens: a 6.26-inch TFT display (2,280 x 1,080) and a smaller, 5.1-inch OLED screen (1,520 x 720).

It makes sense for at least one of these displays to feature OLED technology, as it doesn't consume as much power as LCD screens for always-on functionality.

A quirkier Nubia Z18?

We also get a look at the rest of the spec sheet, including an unnamed 2.649Ghz octa-core processor (Google points to the Snapdragon 845 SoC), 6GB to 8GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of fixed storage, a 3,800mAh battery, Android 8.1, and

The TENAA filing also reveals two cameras (a 24MP shooter and 16MP snapper), which lines up well with the Nubia Z18's 24MP+16MP rear camera setup. The filing doesn't state whether this is a dual-camera combination or if it's one camera for the front and one for the back. Nevertheless, the earlier video didn't show a selfie camera, so we'd assume that there isn't one. After all, the addition of a second screen means you can take selfies with the primary camera setup.

Between the previous leaked video and this TENAA filing, it seems like we can definitely add one more phone to the list of recent dual-screen smartphones. But is the secondary screen actually helpful here? Hopefully the phone gets officially revealed soon, so we can go hands on.
