A supposed render of the Nokia 7.1 Plus. MySmartPrice

  • An image of a new Nokia-branded phone, reportedly called the Nokia 7.1 Plus, has surfaced online.
  • The render shows a dual-camera setup with Zeiss optics and a display notch.
  • This would be a quick turnaround if it's a successor to the Nokia 7 Plus.

HMD Global has revealed a few Nokia X.1 Plus devices this year, including the Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 6.1 Plus. Now, it seems like the company has yet another entry up its sleeve, in the form of the Nokia 7.1 Plus.

Renders of the new device have purportedly leaked via MySmartPrice, revealing a Carl Zeiss-branded dual-camera setup on the back, for one. You should expect the Pro Camera UI on this phone as HMD usually adds it to devices with Zeiss optics.

The renders also shows a display notch on the front, housing an earpiece and selfie camera. HMD's two previous X.1 Plus phones have both featured a display cutout, so it seems like this is quickly becoming a trademark feature for the range.

A quick-fire successor to Nokia 7 Plus?

Other details gleaned from the renders include Android One branding (expect stock Android and prompt updates), a rear fingerprint scanner, and what seems to be a metallic design. The rest of the

spec-sheet — including horsepower, battery size, and camera features — remains to be seen.

Editor's Pick

The phone's position in the new Nokia family also seems a little murky. If this is a follow-up to the Nokia 7 Plus, then it would be a very short turnaround time, as the 7 Plus was revealed at MWC 2018 in February. Then again, this strategy seems to work for OnePlus, as they release two flagships each year.

The Nokia 7 Plus offered solid value for money at launch though, including a Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a 12MP+13MP telephoto rear camera pairing, and a 16MP selfie snapper. The addition of a 3,800mAh battery, notchless 6-inch full HD+ screen, and headphone jack all made for a good deal at ~$400 or thereabouts.
