Motorola will release its 5,000mAh battery-toting Android One handset, the Motorola One Power, in India next week. In a tweet (via GSMArena), Motorola India revealed the India-exclusive handset would go on sale on Monday, September 24.

We saw the Motorola One Power at IFA earlier this month for some hands-on impressions (see the previous link). We liked its premium feel, but were unable to learn much about the One Power's standout feature, the 5,000mAh battery.

This is among the larger Android battery sizes, competing with the likes of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (5,500mAh), the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (5,000mAh), and the company's own budget Moto E5 Plus (5,000mAh). Motorola promises two days of standby time on a single charge for the One Power.

The new Motorola handset comes with a Snapdragon 636 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage with microSD support (other configuration options will be available at launch, apparently). You'll also find a 6.2-inch Full HD (1080 x 2246) display — complete with a not-so-subtle notch — 16MP+5MP dual rear cameras and a 12MP front-facing camera.

Editor's Pick

Though the Motorola One Power launches with Android Oreo, Motorola has promised to swiftly update the handset to Android Pie. Given that this is an Android One phone without a heavily customized UI, the update shouldn't take long to roll out.

We don't yet know where the handset will go on sale, but the official Motorola India website is almost guaranteed to host the device. Meanwhile, the One Power price also remains a mystery. Motorola announced the handset alongside the slightly less powerful Motorola One in August; that device carries a 299 euro price tag, so you should expect to pay more for the One Power.

Are you thinking about picking this one up? Is there a better competitor already available? Give me your thoughts in the comments.
