- Samsung has revealed its latest Good Lock app, MultiStar.
- It's said to allow users to open all apps in multi-window mode and stop apps from pausing while in this mode.
- Unfortunately, it currently only appears to be available for Samsung devices running Android 8.1.
Samsung has released a new Good Lock app called MultiStar that could improve how multitasking works on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (via Reddit).
According to the reports, MultiStar has two main uses: to let users open all apps in multi-window mode, and to stop apps from pausing while in this mode. This means games and apps that usually stop when others are open should continue to run. Likewise, you should be able to force apps that won't open in multi-window mode to do so. You can check the app out in the screenshot below.
These features have the potential to make multitasking a more pleasant experience. While many phones have all the hardware necessary for great multitasking — huge screens, powerful processors, and loads of memory — it is all too often ruined by apps that refuse to work properly while others are open.
This can lead to an experience that feels disjointed, with users having to switch between multi-window and regular mode when they use different apps.
The major issue with Samsung's latest app, however, appears to be availability. While Good Lock works on any Samsung phone running Android Oreo 8.0, MultiStar is said to require a Samsung phone with Android
We don't know if Android 8.1 will get a wide roll-out on Samsung phones, meaning users won't be able to try out MultiStar until Android 9.0 Pie is released on their phone. If there is any hope of getting it before then, it's that Samsung does appear to be doing a good job of making some of it's latest features available on older devices.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and want to try out the app for yourself, or you have an older device and you want to try out the other features available with Good Lock, then click the button below to download it at the Galaxy Apps Store.
