Update, September 28, 2018 (03:17

PM EST): It appears that Google is rolling out the Cast integration update for Google Podcasts discussed below. The update is part of version 8.22 of the Google app (Google Podcasts is baked into the Google app).

The 8.22 version of the Google app is currently in beta but will hit the stable channel today and then roll out accordingly. Be on the lookout for this long-overdue feature in Google Podcasts!

Original Article, September 18, 2018 (01:10PM EST): When the Google Podcasts app launched, it was a late entry into the burgeoning podcast scene. Not only was the app late to the party, but it was also missing some integral features, none of which more questionable than Cast functionality.

For example, you would be unable to Cast your podcast episodes to your Chromecast, which just doesn't make any sense.

Editor's Pick
people have tried a podcast or two, listened to a couple a week, or maybe even per day. Heck, by now, maybe you've even hosted your own podcast. Maybe you're excited for Serial …

Now though, it appears Cast functionality is finally making its way to Google Podcasts, via Android Police. Regrettably, both Android Police and us here at Android Authority were unable to get Cast working on our own Google Podcast apps, but a user in Brazil posted screenshots to Twitter of Cast working in Google Podcasts.

You can see the user's tweet below:

Hopefully, this means that Cast functionality is slowly rolling out to all users; it will just be a little while before we all see it.

According to the screenshots, the Cast button appears in the top right corner of the app, just as it appears in other Google apps like YouTube, Google Play Music, etc.

If you don't see the Cast button yet and want to cast a podcast episode right now, you can always cast your entire smartphone output using the Cast Quick Tile button. However, this is obviously a clunky and battery-draining workaround for the time being.
