A look at the front and back of the Blu Vivo Go. 9to5Google/The Verge

  • The Blu Vivo Go is the company's first Android Go smartphone.
  • The phone offers a budget-minded quad-core chipset, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
  • Blu's device also sports a fingerprint scanner and dual-camera setup for $90.

It's surprising that we haven't seen an Android Go smartphone from Blu until now. After all, the company made a name for itself thanks to low prices and decent specs.

The wait is over though, as the company is reportedly set to launch the Blu Vivo Go. News of the phone's existence comes via a now-deleted article on The Verge (spotted by 9to5Google). And it looks like you're getting plenty of phone for $89.99.

The Blu Vivo Go isn't the most powerful Android Go phone, offering a budget-focused MediaTek MT6739 chipset (quad-core Cortex-A53 at 1.5Ghz) and 1GB of RAM. The latter in particular means that multitasking more than a couple of apps will be a chore. But the rest of the spec sheet holds up to scrutiny, featuring 16GB of expandable storage, a 6-inch 1,440 x 720 display (18:9), a 2,600mAh battery, and dual-SIM support.

Blu's phone also has a number of features you aren't guaranteed to receive on an Android Go device. Some of these uncommon features include a rear fingerprint scanner, and three cameras (two 8MP shooters and a 0.3MP snapper). The exact nature of the camera setup wasn't revealed, but we'd assume that you'll get an 8MP+0.3MP rear pairing for depth of field tricks, and an 8MP front-facing camera for decent selfies.

The Blu Vivo Go is reportedly set to go on sale next month via Amazon. Blu will apparently toss in a free screen protector, case and earphones in the box.

The phone certainly seems like a much better device on paper than the Nokia 1, while offering a few advantages over the Alcatel 1X Android Go model (dual cameras, and a slightly bigger battery). It also trades advantages with the slightly more expensive Xiaomi Redmi 6A. Xiaomi's phone lacks a dual-camera setup and fingerprint scanner, but offers a bigger battery, more RAM, and a more power-efficient chipset on paper.
