Update, November 29, 2018 (5:42PM ET): Bethesda announced on Twitter that it delayed The Elder Scrolls: Blades. The game will be released sometime in 2019 for iOS and Android.

You can still sign up for early access, but the delay means we do not know when players can play the game early.

Original article: Bethesda has announced The Elder Scrolls: Blades for Android at E3 2018. The game is a "massive first-person role-playing game" and will be the second Elder Scrolls game to make it to mobile. It will be free-to-play and is set for release in fall 2018.

You'll play as a member of the ancient order of the Blades who, after being forced into exile, must restore their hometown from the rubble. What this means is there will be town-building elements, plenty of quests, and real-time battles.

The graphics in the trailer and images look fantastic. The light glimmers realistically off the swords and shields, while the small details in the dungeons, castles, and mountains that make up the background of the game keep things suitably atmospheric. Bethesda themselves say the environments rendered in the game will be console quality.

As well as being the first Elder Scrolls role-playing game to come to Android — the previously released The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a card game — there are plenty of other things to get excited about. The 'Arena mode' promises to let you battle it out against other opponents in a one-on-one real-time fight. There is also an endless 'Abyss mode' which will see you continue battling until you die.

Editor's Pick

Bethesda didn't mention if it will be ad-supported or have in-app purchases. However, previous Bethesda games such as Fallout Shelter and The Elder Scrolls: Legends are supported by in-app purchases so it's likely that Blades will be the same.

While the game's release is still a few months away, if you want early access, you can sign up for the chance to be one of the first to try it at The Elder Scrolls: Blades website. Signing up will also get you an exclusive in-game sword and helmet. Be quick though, as registration closes June 15.

Alternatively, you can pre-register at Google Play to be kept up-to-date about the game. Click the link below to visit the game's page.
