  • New press renders of the LG G8 ThinQ just leaked.
  • The press renders depict a device very similar to the previously-leaked images from CAD renders.
  • If these renders are legit, the LG G8 ThinQ will likely be only an iterative upgrade over the LG G7.

Last week, reliable leaker @OnLeaks (via 91Mobiles) shared some renders allegedly depicting the LG G8 ThinQ (see above). Even hardcore LG fans were dismayed to see that the renders show a phone that looks very similar to last year's flagship offerings from the company.

LG took to Twitter to claim those renders were wrong and didn't accurately represent the final product. That gave us some hope that maybe the LG G8 would be different.

Alas, we now have leaked press renders of the final product (via XDA Developers) and, as we expected, the device looks pretty much the same as it did in @OnLeaks renders.

See for yourself below:

Unless we're missing something, these press renders are a dead ringer for the originally-leaked renders.

Just to clarify, @OnLeaks develops his renders from CAD files which are usually distributed to third-party companies before a phone's launch so those companies can create things like cases, screen protectors, and other accessories. @OnLeaks creates a mock-up of the device from those files.

However, these press renders are

different: these are created by LG itself. If these press renders are legit, this is exactly what the LG G8 ThinQ will look like, assuming there are no last-minute changes in the pipeline.

Editor's Pick

As expected, the device looks very similar to the LG G7 ThinQ, with the only significant changes being the addition of a second camera on the front and the removal of the speaker grille in the notch. The dual cameras on the rear are reconfigured and look to be more recessed into the body of the device, as well. Other than that, though, this looks just like last year's G7.

At least the headphone jack is still there.

We still don't know about the specs of the device. We do, however, have a sneaking suspicion that there might be a second screen accessory available with the G8, which could be pretty interesting. There's also a rumor about a new LG phone working without you having to touch the device.

It's widely speculated that LG will launch the LG G8 ThinQ at Mobile World Congress towards the end of February. We'll find out everything then.

In the meantime, what do you think? Are you disappointed that the original renders turned out to be pretty accurate, or is the addition of a second selfie camera enough for you to upgrade? Let us know in the comments!
