Moment

Smartphone camera lens manufacturer Moment is now accepting submissions for the fourth annual Moment Invitational Film Festival. The filmmaking contest will help promote filmmakers who use mobile equipment to create their works.

This year, there is over $100,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs!

How does it work? The steps are fairly simple:

  • Create a new short film using only mobile equipment.
  • Upload your film to YouTube.
  • Submit that film to Moment by March 17, 2019.
Editor's Pick

The Moment team will judge the submissions and pick 15 finalists.

Moment will fly those selectees to New York City for the premiere on April 13, 2019, and then give them each $2,000 worth of gear and $1,000 in cash. During the premiere, various films will be awarded cash prizes in different categories (best short documentary, best narrative film, etc.).

If you're not a filmmaker, don't worry: you can vote online after the premiere to help determine the People's Choice and Filmmakers Choice awards. Those awards will earn each respective winner a cool $10,000.

Check out Moment's own video surrounding the festival below:

There are a few things to keep in mind if you're planning to submit a film. The most important one is that this must be a brand new film made between now and March 17, 2019. You can't submit a film you've previously made, it has to be shot within the next month (this keeps the playing field level for all submissions).

The next thing to keep in mind is that the film should be shorter than three minutes and fit into one of five categories: Narrative, Travel, Experimental, Mini Documentary, and How-To.

Obviously, the entire film must be shot on a phone.

There's some other fine-print stuff to read at the submission page here.

Let us know in the comments if you plan to submit something!
