A Google logo.

Today, Google started sending out press invites for an event the company is holding at this year's Game Developers Conference. The invite encourages attendees to "gather around" and promises that "all will be revealed" (via The Verge).

Included with the Google GDC invite is an animated GIF of a dark hallway with a bright light at the end. We can't be certain, but it seems the hallway is a game render, not a real-life image.

See for yourself below:

While this GIF and the invite itself don't tell us much about this Google GDC event, it's hard not to think it will have something to do with Project Stream, Google's recent test of an in-browser game streaming service. So far, the only game playable by the public in Project Stream was Assassin's Creed Odyssey. It's possible this event will be Google's announcement of new games for further testing, or it could even be the launch of the commercial product Project Stream will likely

eventually become.

Editor's Pick

However, it could have nothing to do with Project Stream and could instead be something else entirely.

Google usually attends GDC each year, but primarily focuses on assisting Android game developers. The company sending out an invite like this clearly means it is doing something much larger this year.

The Google GDC event is slated for March 19, 2019, at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET). We'll know everything then. In the meantime, what do you think Google has in store for us? Let us know your theories in the comments.
