In a new interview with Bloomberg, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak discusses all manners of technology, including cryptocurrency, AI, machine learning, and electric cars.

Of course, no interview with "Woz" would be complete without some discussion of his former company Apple. Notably, Woz admits in the interview that he is "worried" that he hasn't heard anything about a folding iPhone, especially considering the recent deluge of Android-powered foldable devices launching at Mobile World Congress.

"Apple has been a leader for quite a long time in a few areas such as Touch ID, Face ID, and easy payments with the phone," Wozniak said in the interview. "They're not the leader in areas like the folding phone, and that worries me because I really want a folding phone."

Update: February 26, 2019 (01:15 AM ET): We've now had a chance to sit down with the Huawei Mate X for a closer look: check out the new photos in the gallery at the bottom …

Woz's excitement for a foldable smartphone likely stems from the two recently announced devices from Samsung and Huawei — the Galaxy Fold and the Mate X, respectively. Both devices feature flexible OLED panels that users can bend into either a smartphone-shaped design or a tablet-like design.

Apple tends to play everything very close to the chest, so it's very possible a folding iPhone is already in the works. However, it's very unlikely a folding iPhone will hit the market sometime soon in response to the recent Android models.

Recently, we've heard rumors supporting the idea that a 5G iPhone also won't be out in time to compete with the deluge of Android 5G smartphones. It's possible that a 5G iPhone won't hit the market until late 2020.
