The Samsung Galaxy A70.

Samsung has been on a roll lately when it comes to the A series, bringing some high-end features to its mid-range devices. The company is continuing this trend with the Galaxy A70, offering some welcome additions to the table.

The new device has an unnamed octa-core chipset (dual-core 2Ghz plus hexa-core 1.7Ghz), 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage. Other notable additions include a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen (waterdrop notch, 1,080 x 2,400) with an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 4,500mAh battery with 25-watt fast charging.

The noteworthy features don't end there either, as the Galaxy A70 sports a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera and a 32MP f/1.7 primary rear shooter. The latter is joined by two more rear cameras in the form of a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle shooter (123-degree field of view). It's unclear if the Korean company is using pixel-binning on the 32MP sensors, but it seems like a no-brainer in order to deliver better low-light snaps.

Samsung hasn't revealed pricing and launch details for the Galaxy A70, so it's a little too early to say whether we've got a great proposition on our hands. If it's only a fraction more expensive than the excellent Galaxy A50 (which ranges from ~$280 to ~$320), then it certainly looks like a good deal. The company has confirmed that the device will be available in blue, black, Coral, and white gradient options.

The manufacturer also said it'll be holding 'A Galaxy Event' across three continents on April 10. So if the current crop of Galaxy A series phones don't pique your interest, keep an eye out for this event.
