Smart Android And Trik-Commenting on Andorid indeed never endless, because smart devices this one is often updated every certain amount of time. So that the market can always be garapnya menerinya with pleasure. And it is not denied if this device has become the lifestyle of each society. To not wonder if the 6th business information and many are turning to mobail smartphone. With Android which thoroughly dominated the mobile industry, choosing the best Android smartphone is almost identical to choose the best smartphone, period. But while Android phones have few real opponents on other platforms, internal competition is intense.
Samsung introduced the Bixby button on the Samsung Galaxy S8 family of devices. It is useful for basic stuff like taking screenshots or setting reminders. However, it's also a button you can hit accidentally a lot and the general consensus says Google Assistant is simply better. Samsung listened to the criticism and introduced Bixby button remapping with the Android 9.0 Pie and One UI update.
In this tutorial, we'll show you how to remap the Bixby button on all compatible Samsung Galaxy devices.
Compatible Samsung devices
These methods should work on most recent Samsung devices. It requires the device to have One UI and the Android 9.0 Pie update. Otherwise it won't work at all. The following devices should be able to use this tutorial:
- All Samsung Galaxy S10 series phones.
- Any Samsung Galaxy S9 series phone plus the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
- Any Samsung Galaxy S8 series phone plus the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
How to natively remap the Bixby button
The stock software lets you remap the Bixby button without any third party software. Simply make sure that your Bixby Voice app — accessible by pressing the Bixby button once — is up to date and you're ready to roll. The first method is the one that you've probably read everywhere so far.
- Open the Bixby Voice app by pressing the Bixby button one time.
- Tap the 3-dot menu button, click Settings, and then navigate to the Bixby key option.
- Select the Double press to open Bixby option. Under that, there's an option to use a single press to open an app or use a quick command. Select the app option.
- Select the app you want from the list of available apps.
That's it! From now on, a single press opens your customized app or command while a double tap still opens the traditional Bixby app. You can still use Bixby Voice with a double tap and hold. You can also swap the single and double press actions if you want to. Simply repeat the above steps and select Single press to open Bixby and configure your app or command accordingly from there.
Using the button to open an app is awesome. However, we found Quick Commands a little wanting in real world use.
We recommend the first method to people who don't really like Bixby and want to hide it as best as they can. The second method is still a great option for those who use Bixby and want the double press to add a bit of functionality. In our testing, we used the extra functionality to open Samsung Pay or the camera.
There are some restrictions. You can't natively select Google Assistant or
How to remap the button to Google Assistant
People like remapping the Bixby button to Google Assistant. You can't use the above method for this, but there is an alternate method to get what you want:
- Download the Bixby Button Assistant Remapper app from XDA-Developers. Install it on your device like you would any other third-party APK. Here is our tutorial if you need help.
- Repeat the above steps as though you're selecting an app on your phone. However, this time, select the Bixby Button Assistant Remapper from your app selection.
- Press the Bixby button to run the command for the first time. It will ask what assistant app you want to use. Select the Google Assistant option and tap the Always button.
This worked well in our testing and you don't have to mess with anything once it's up and running. We're not thrilled that Samsung forces this type of workaround, but installing a third party APK isn't the worst workaround ever.
There is a second method that uses Bixby's Quick Commands to open an assistant app. However, we found that method clunky, inconsistent, and slow. We recommend using the third-party APK method.
Remap Bixby with apps from Google Play
There is one final method to remap the Bixby button. This one uses third-party apps from the Play Store to change what the Bixby button does. It's not as clean as Samsung's method. However, these apps can do things the native solution can't. Some examples include remapping the volume keys, having the Bixby button toggle the flashlight on and off, and even control your music.
Bixbi Button Remapper is one of our favorites. It's free and includes some fun functions. Button Remapper works with a bunch of buttons, but also includes support for Bixby. Search the Play Store for more if one of those two don't work.
