Samsung Galaxy A20 front

Right when you thought that Samsung had a pretty fleshed out portfolio in the mid-range segment, the company has gone ahead and launched yet another phone. The Samsung Galaxy A20 is a curious device that slots itself between the Galaxy A10 and the A30 while also competing with Samsung's own Galaxy M30.

Samsung is betting big on displays with the new M and A series of phones and the A20 is no different. The phone packs a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-V display. The difference here is that unlike the Galaxy M30 and Galaxy A30, the Galaxy A20 has an HD+ (720 x 1560) resolution panel. The phone has a waterdrop notch, hence the Infinity-V moniker.

Powering the phone is an Exynos 7884 chipset, the same as on the entry level Galaxy A10. This is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The phone has support for dual SIM cards as well as a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion.

There's a dual camera set-up at the back of the phone with the primary camera sporting a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 lens. The secondary camera is a

five-megapixel ultra-wide shooter.

The Galaxy A20 has a 4,000mAh battery which is about par for the course in this category of phones. The USB-C port and 15W fast charging support, however, is certainly welcome.

Editor's Pick

Running Android Pie with the new One UI out of the box, the Galaxy A20 is priced at 12,490 rupees (~$180) in India. The Galaxy A20 will be available in red, black and blue colors when it goes on sale starting April 10.

The phone is priced within spitting distance of the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Galaxy M30, both of which are superior devices. Would you spend a little more for better specs or is the Galaxy A20 exactly what you want from an entry-level mid-ranger? Let us know in the comments section.
