Back in November last year, Japan-based Sharp unveiled the Aquos R2 compact which became the world's first smartphone with a dual notch. Today, the company has announced the second one dubbed Aquos R3.

The Sharp Aquos R3 boasts a 6.2-inch Pro IGZO panel that has 3120 x 1440-pixel resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It comes with HDR10 support and has two notches - one at the top which houses the 16.3MP selfie camera, and the other at the bottom which surrounds the fingerprint scanner housed in the home button.

Around the back, the Aquos R3 sports a dual camera setup placed vertically in the top-left corner. This setup is a combination of one 12.2MP (f/1.7, 78-degree FOV) unit used for still photography, and a

20MP (f/2.4, 125-degree FOV) module which is reserved for video recording. The smartphone also comes with AI-based camera features like AI Live Story and AI Live Shutter.

Talking about the innards, the Sharp Aquos R3 has Snapdragon 855 SoC at the helm which is laced with 6GB RAM. The smartphone runs Android Pie and has 128GB of storage onboard.

It ships with a 3,200 mAh battery with support for 11W Qi wireless charging. But, considering the size and resolution of the screen, it seems the backup may not be all that impressive.

Pricing and availability details of the Sharp Aquos R3 are currently unavailable.
