AT&T is the latest retailer to cancel pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Fold. As initially reported by Tom’s Guide AT&T has sent email notifications to those who pre-ordered Samsung’s foldable smartphone.

The email says that the pre-orders were cancelled because “Unfortunately, Samsung delayed the release of the Fold, which means we can’t ship your phone and have to cancel your pre-order.” As a courtesy, AT&T is sending affected customers a promotional $100 card, which will be received within 60 days.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold was initially set to go on sale on April 26 before a few early adopters, mainly media outlets, found potential failure points with the design of the Galaxy Fold. Samsung promptly delayed the public release of the Fold and took time to rectify the weak design points. Thankfully, we didn’t see issues with our unit, but Samsung eventually asked for all of them back.

With the Huawei Mate X just certified by China’s 3C, it looks like Huawei’s foldable phone will beat Samsung to the punch, at least in its home market. Do you think Samsung will release the Galaxy Fold in time before Huawei can?
