Square Enix announced the new mobile title via a live streamed event earlier today. There was only a short gameplay demo, but it appears to

offer the classic Dragon Quest charm that fans of the JRPG series have come to expect. You can watch the full livestream here.

Dragon Quest Walk features a Pokémon Go-style map with Slimes and other monsters spawning randomly to battle. There are story-related locations and landmarks to explore, as well as dungeons with powerful boss monsters. You can even set up and decorate your own house to your liking.

The game is set to enter beta on Android and iOS next week, but only in certain regions of Japan. It will see a full release some time in 2019, but for now there is no news on whether or not that release will be limited to Japan.
