Huawei will become the first mobile phone brand with two 7nm chips in its portfolio. The news was announced in a Weibo post by He Gang, head of Huawei’s smartphone division. The upcoming Huawei nova 5 will feature a new 7nm Kirin SoC, believed to be the Kirin 810 which will replace the popular Kirin 710 used in current Huawei midrangers.
The other 7nm chipset in Huawei’s lineup is the Kirin 980 which made its debut on the Mate 20 series last year and powers the P30 family as well.

We are already familiar with the design and specs of the upcoming nova 5 but the processor was not certain as some rumors pointed to the flagship Kirin 980. The new Kirin 810 chip is believed to feature an eight core CPU including an ARM Cortex-A76 custom large core and a Mali-G52 GPU.

The nova 5 is expected to come with a 6.39-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a punch hole for the 32MP selfie cam and UD fingerprint scanner. The back will house a quad camera setup with a 48MP main shooter. The phone is expected to feature a large 4,200 mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging.
Huawei will announce the nova 5 and 5i and their pro versions at its event on June 21 alongside the new MediaPad M6 tablet.
