Customers are also waiting for the 5G game to play out before deciding whether it is worth it to upgrade to a smartphone.

The commercial launch of the next-gen connectivity is expected to happen in the second half of 2019 and expand in 2020, and that’s when the market is expected to see a huge wave of users upgrading their phones if the manufacturers manage to keep “prices appropriate to mass market”.
