Pixelbook Go Leaked Image9to5Google

Over the past few weeks, we've heard some rumblings about the possibility of Google launching a new Chromebook along with the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in October. Now, via 9to5Google, we have the strongest evidence yet that that's the case, and the laptop could be called the Google Pixelbook Go.

Unlike the original, very expensive convertible Pixelbook — and unlike last year's Google Pixel Slate tablet hybrid — the Pixelbook Go could be a back-to-basics affair. It will still be a premium laptop, but it will stick to the traditional clamshell format and not try to reinvent the Chromebook in any way.

It could, however, come with an option for a 4K display, which would likely make it only the second such Chromebook on the market to do so (the first was the Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C360).

According to an anonymous source speaking with 9to5Google, there could be multiple models of the Pixelbook Go. This will allow there to be cheaper variants with a basic amount of RAM, internal storage, and other specs. If you want something more premium, you can opt for the 4K version with up to 256GB of storage and a Core i7 processor powering it all.

We expect the Pixelbook Go to have the same ports as the original Pixelbook — two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device could be constructed using "magnesium alloy," which is similar to what Microsoft uses for its line of Surface computers.

Pricing and other missing information aren't known just yet, but it's a good bet we'll see the Pixelbook Go at the Made by Google event on October 15. Here's hoping Google doesn't overprice the thing and repeat the same lackluster sales of the original Pixelbook and the Pixel Slate.
