Update, December 31 2019 (2:17AM ET): We got our first purported look at the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus earlier this month (check out the original article below), and we've now got more proof of the earphones' existence.

The Galaxy Buds Plus appeared on the Bluetooth SIG website this week, confirming the name, model number (SM-R175), and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The latter is a match for the previous buds, so those hoping for Bluetooth 5.1 will be disappointed.

The listing doesn't tell us anything else about these earbuds, but XDA's earlier digging has revealed that we're looking at a near-identical design to the previous buds.

Original article, December 20 2019 (1:34AM ET): We really enjoyed the Samsung Galaxy Buds, with our sister website Soundguys going so far as to call it "an excellent choice for Android users." We've previously heard about Galaxy Buds Plus earbuds being in the works, and we may have received our first look at them.

XDA-Developers dug through the Samsung SmartThings app and found references to "budsplus" as well as several animations showing off the new earbuds. We get a good look at the Galaxy Buds Plus as well as the charging case — check out one of the animations below.

The animations show new Galaxy Buds that look nigh-on identical to the old ones, which makes us wonder how these new audio accessories earn their "Plus" status.

There's no word on specifications, but it's possible that Samsung may have improved the battery life, added aptX support, or included some storage. The latter two features are missing in the current Galaxy Buds.

We'll likely see the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus at the Galaxy S11 series launch, expected to take place in Q1 2020. What would you like to see from these earbuds? Give us your desired features below!
