Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 3 of 11

There are dozens upon dozens of new laptops at CES 2020, but Chromebooks make up a very small sliver of these announcements. There are basically just a handful of new Chromebooks at CES 2020, but here are the three that caught our eye.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 9 of 11

Samsung isn't a stranger to Chromebooks but the new Galaxy Chromebook is easily one of its most premium offerings to date. In addition to a gorgeous design (especially in the Fiesta Red variant), the new laptop features a 4K AMOLED panel with a 16:9 ratio. It even offers Ambient EQ technology to automatically adjust brightness and color temperature levels based on the lighting. It also offers a built-in stylus, Wi-Fi 6 support, dual-cameras, and is powered by a 10th-gen Intel processor.

While you might not think of Chromebooks as the perfect device for digital artists, Samsung is also including specialized software designed to make the most out of the stylus. While this probably won't cut it for more professional types, for amateurs it's a great option.

Basically, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook feels a lot like a Pixelbook rival, and it has a high price to match. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook will cost $999 when it launches in the US this March.

Asus Chromebook Flip C436

The Asus Chromebook Flip series continues to be extremely popular. At CES 2020, Asus is bringing us the

The Flip features the same 360-degree hinge design seen in prior Flip models. This allows you to use it in a number of ways such as tablet mode, tent mode, and traditional laptop mode. The Asus Chromebook Flip C436 is quite a looker, featuring a 14-inch "frameless NanoEdge touch display" for maximum screen size while keeping the form factor as small as possible. The body is made of magnesium alloy and weighs only 2.4 pounds.

Under the hood, the Flip C436 has plenty of power for a Chromebook, powered by a 10th gen Intel Core processor and 16GB RAM. Other features include a 512GB SSD, WiFi 6 support, an integrated fingerprint sensor, a 42Wh that should get around 12 hours of battery life, and four omnidirectional speakers. Port selection is about average for a Chromebook — you get two USB 3.2 Type-C ports and a microSD card slot. While it doesn't include a stylus, the new flip also supports USI-compatible styluses (with support up to 4,095 levels of pressure.)

Asus didn't give exact pricing or release details, but we can expect it sometime in Q1/Q2 of this year.

Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook

At first glance you might think you're looking at the now-retired Google Pixel Slate, but this is actually a new Chromebook device from Lenovo. The Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook is more of a tablet/convertible than a typical laptop. Basically you can switch from laptop to tablet modes thanks to the included keyboard dock.

The Duet is running on an unspecified Mediatek chip and there aren't a lot of details on the specs, other than it has a 10-inch Full HD IPS panel and supports USI styluses. That said, playing around with the device felt fluid enough and so it should be more than capable for those who want a basic Chromebook experience in a more tablet-like form factor. The convertible will go on sale this May for just $279.99.

While there were a few other Chromebooks, these were the three that we felt actually stood out for the crowd. Interestingly, all three devices have convertible designs and pen support, which seems to be the trend here at CES. Which is your favorite, and why?
