Samsung is gearing up for the future though, and it's announced that it's now producing 512GB eUFS 3.1 storage. In fact, Samsung claims the new standard delivers three times the write speed of UFS 3.0 and breaches the 1GBps barrier.
"Phones with the new eUFS 3.1 will only take about 1.5 minutes to move 100GB of data whereas UFS 3.0-based phones require more than four minutes," the company notes, adding that it's also up to 60% faster than UFS 3.0 when it comes to random performance.
The manufacturer points to the new storage standard as being a boon for 8K videos and large size photos. And with the
Samsung has confirmed that 512GB UFS 3.1 storage production is underway, and that it will also offer 128GB and 256GB options for "flagship smartphones that will be launched later this year." In other words, it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume that the Galaxy Note 20 and possibly the Galaxy Fold 2 will have this new storage standard.
