A rather peculiar GeekBench 5 benchmark run was recently spotted online from a device reporting itself as a “Samsung SHG-N375”. The listing itself does not reveal much about the handset, aside from 6GB of RAM and an Android 10 OS. However, it has been brought to our attention by a reputable leakster, associated with some additional hardware info, that mentions an Adreno 619 GPU. Taking this into consideration, along with the GeekBench scores does, most-likely add up to a Snapdragon 750G chipset – one of Qualcomm’s newer budget-friendly 5G offers.

Our first guess then would be that this is actually a benchmark for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A52 5G – a handset already associated with the Snapdragon 750G by earlier leaks. Plus, there is the clear similarity to the already-announced Samsung A42 5G to corroborate that theory further.

The really perplexing bit here, however, has to be the SGH-N378 model number. While it doesn’t really need to be indicative on anything and could be fairly-random on pre-release and development hardware, it is, coincidentally, quite similar to old Samsung-style model notations, mostly deprecated after 2013 and distinctly different from the Galaxy A42 5G’s SM-A426B and SM-A426B/DS. The closest model we could find would probably be the original Samsung Galaxy J.

If you do choose to read into the model number, its odd nature could suggest an entirely new Galaxy family. Granted, that’s probably a bit far-fetched. Plus, Samsung already has quite a few sprawling families of devices to potentially add the SGH-N378 to. For instance, the Galaxy M12 has been popping-up in the rumor mill lately, with a rather Galaxy A42-like design.

We’ll keep you posted if more info on the matter becomes available.
