Pei said the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will bring a performance boost, but it's "not just about speed – it's about the complete package" since "Opting for a Snapdragon 8 Series rather than 7 Series brings significant improvements across the board including battery life, network connectivity, and camera capabilities, among others."

Pei also said that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was chosen because "it’s

best-in-class when it comes to power consumption and heat management." Plus, it ensures that "Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1)." The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an old chip, and going with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 would've increased the phone's price.
